Based out of Bangalore, Dr. Neera is one of the top marathon coaches and runners in India, with hundreds of amazing transformations under her belt.

About Dr. Neera Katwal

Let’s just say that Dr. Neera is everything awesome. An ACE-certified personal trainer and avid marathon runner, you can find her either hustling at the gym or working on her run timings around the city of Bangalore. Apart from that, she can be found spending time with her beloved dog Pookie, Noddy, and Bubbu.

If that’s not impressive enough already, she also holds a MPhil in psychology and a doctorate in Organisational Psychology and Human Resource Management from IIT Madras. Her love affair with fitness started during her Ph.D. days when she spent her time on campus immersed in all sorts of extracurriculars, from jogging, badminton, swimming, ad dancing to even rock climbing. Dr. Neera also earned a black belt in Karate.

A free spirit, Neera felt stuck in her job as an HR manager and longed to pursue her passions in the field of fitness. That’s when she decided to quit her job and move to Bangalore. Her story is the perfect example of trusting your instinct and taking a leap of faith in life sometimes.

Dr. Neera’s Fitness Journey

During her initial days in Bangalore, Dr. Neera began fitness training and developing the necessary skills to become a fitness professional. She enrolled in the Reebok fitness course for aerobics and body conditioning, which is a year-long professional certification course.

But that’s not all! Over the period of her course, Dr. Neera also pursued various other skills for her career, such as training as a yoga instructor, Zumba Fitness guide, and much more. It’s obvious that Dr. Neera is not someone who can sit idle. Working on her goals is something she enjoys with all her heart and soul.

While working on her career, Neera put equal emphasis on her personal fitness as well. She wanted to be the fittest and strongest version of herself, and that’s where Optimum Wellness comes into the picture. Nutrition

Given Dr. Neera’s exceptional level of physical activity, we needed to make sure she had plenty of energy to get through the day feeling strong and energetic. At the same time, it was important to balance her macros to maintain a stable weight and overall lean physique.

On a daily basis, Dr. Neera’s nutrition routine is comprised of several small meals at regular intervals throughout the day. We put special emphasis on including a great amount of protein from both supplementations and natural sources to keep her satiated and energetic. Apart from that, we had separate dietary protocols in place before her marathon days to aid performance and improve energy levels.

Being an amazingly dedicated person, Dr. Neera followed her plans as closely as possible and made the process effortless in all aspects. With the combination of a science-backed nutrition and fitness plan, we began to see promising results very soon.

Fitness Workouts

Needless to say, Dr. Neera absolutely loves staying fit. From running, cycling, and yoga to pumping it out at the gym, there’s nothing she didn’t do. Apart from the obvious goal of improving her run timings, Dr. Neera also had her eyes set on another goal – getting a solid set of abs.

The best way to get defined abs is of course strength training paired with the proper diet. As Dr. Neera followed her prescribed diet perfectly and always stayed active, we began to see amazing results at a remarkable pace.

For marathon training, in particular, we had specialized running protocols to prepare her for marathon days. Marathon protocols include specialized endurance training, flexibility, mobility training, and much more. We closely monitored her timings and progress to make sure we could implement any necessary changes if required.

Having finished her Reebok certification, Dr. Neera began her career as a personal trainer. Her ACE certification was another addition to her crown as it’s yet another example of her constant desire to expand her knowledge and dive deeper into exercise science.

Dr. Neera was the coach of the Reebok Running squad. She was also the brand ambassador of Fast&Up, one of India’s leading sports nutrition brands. With a strong social media following, Dr. Neera documents her marathon running journey and the many achievements she continues to conquer in the field as a coach and an athlete.

She also regularly posts home workouts perfect for helping busy individuals stay fit and active at home. Be it yoga or strength training with everyday household objects, there is something for every fitness lover on Dr. Neera’s page.She started her own running group called Champions and the whole squad regularly takes part in marathons together, breaking records and making their coach super proud. On her Instagram page @champions_by_neera, she documents the journey of her team of runners whom she coaches. Vibrant, inspiring, and full of positivity, Dr. Neera’s social media is like an extension of her spirit itself.
